Microcomputer development and debugger maker Sophia Systems Co.,Ltd (Headquarters :Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa, President: Katsumi Harashima, Capital: 90 million yen, Sohwa Corporation (Headquarters: Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa, President: Seiji Konisi) 100% subsidiary) is pleased to release a prevalent development Multi capability platform named [SandgateMID] loaded with Marvell PXA310 processor 624Hz and corresponding touch panel LCD. Available to support Windows CE and Linux operating system environments, starting this coming September.
Sophia has continued to support Marvell (previously Intel) PXA application processors continually. Sophia Systems sells extended eco system tools and Solution Set products that includes a JTAG emulator, reference boards, etc. for the world-wide and Japan market place to support embedded system engineers for design and debugging.
[SandgateMID] maintains the key capabilities found in the mobile terminal platform [SandgateIII-P] hardware, though since SandgateIII-P is offered at a higher price, the SandgateMID reference board will be offered at a price range much lower.
The PXA application processor usage in products is popular because of its high performance. It covers internet devices, portable navigation devices, order terminals, handicap terminal, digital signage, etc, A common environment for custom made products of high capability is certainly necessary for multipurpose OS, and BSP development so savings of development time and cost can be achieved. [SandgateMID] will support [Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 OS], and [Linux OS]. Customers can purchase these OS BSPs optionally. As stated, Engineers will be able to develop hardware, software, and debug at the same time using the [SandgateMID] platform.
Sophia is planning to prepare GPS and camera capabilities, and our various partners will be preparing some kits for [SandgateMID] as optional product releases. According to Yasukawa, Information Systems is cooperating to make a kit for supporting KDDI communications, and will be released soon. This KDDI kit is helpful for developing monitor system devices that load data communications. Murata Manufacturing will add suitable WiFi drivers for an optional product release. This Murata kit may support high throughput with high quality.

[SandgateMID] debug board which is supported by our EJ-SCT JTAG emulator attaches easily. The debug board and EJ-SCT with WATCHPOINT Debugger allows for on chip debugging. High Level coding compiler languages and multi OS debugging is supported. EJ-SCT is powered by USB connection to the Host PC.
Sophia Systems offers a complete solution set package for [SandgateMID] with EJ-SCT JTAG emulator (debug), BSPs, Microsoft Visual Studio/Platform Builder related software, and/or Linux tool chain related software, etc.
