Sophia Systems announces the Gold BSP release of Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Embedded CE 6.0 for the Sandgate III development platform running the Marvell(R) PXA300 series applications processor.

ESEC, Tokyo Big Sight, Japan, May 16th, 2007- Sophia Systems Co., Ltd. (Head office: Kawasaki Kanagawa Japan, CEO: Katsumi Harashima, Capital: 90 million, a 100% subsidiary of Sophia Holdings, Ltd. (JASDAQ 6942)) is pleased to announce the Gold release of its reference board support package (BSP) based on Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0, for the Sandgate III development platform with Marvell PXA300 series applications processor , based on Intel Xscale technology (internally called Monahans). The platform is currently being shown at the Microsoft booth in the 10th Embedded Systems Expo (ESEC: Tokyo Big Sight).

Now available, the Sandgate III development platform with Marvell PXA300 series supports Microsoft(R) Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and implements the appropriate hardware and software for cellular information terminal development. In addition, the combination of Sandgate III and Sophia's EJ-Debug emulator provides a powerful development environment. The reference BSP for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 is provided as an upgrade option.

Sophia's high-level language debugger, "WATCHPOINT," can be used in combination with Microsoft's Platform Builder via Sophia's cooperating software, "WP4MSPB." This enables the use of the familiar Platform Builder for the boot loader debugging or the OAL debugging. This type of cooperative debugging supports Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and will be available in the near future.

The Sandgate III platform combined with the Marvell PXA300 series applications processors enables engineers to develop software at the same time as the hardware is being developed; with a wide range of powerful debugging capabilities (such as efficient debugging for an uncompleted system, program loading to Flash ROM, program execution and break, view change of each memory register, bus trace, view change of emulation memory), greatly reducing the overall development cycle.

The Sandgate III and the BSP development environment was demonstrated and exhibited at the Microsoft booth in the "10th Embedded Systems Expo" (ESEC) held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koutou-ku, Tokyo).

Tasuku Kashihira, the chairman of Sophia Systems said, "With the Gold BSP release for Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0, developers can now feel confident that, with Sophia, they have all the right tools for their PXA300-based handheld and/or multimedia device projects. We believe that these new products will allow for more efficient development of systems running Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and will help contribute to our customers market penetration plans.

Seiji Umeda, BG Lead, Mobile&Embedded Devices Business Group, Microsoft Co., Ltd.
I would like to congratulate Sophia Systems Co., Ltd. for its release of BSP supporting Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0. Sophia Systems has long been promoting to provide advanced platform development and development environment, and today's announcement that it will be releasing world's first PXA 300 Series BSP which will be supporting Watchpoint debugger that holds a large share in Japanese embedded market. This will surely reach out to an even larger number of embedded developers in providing latest development environment and debugging for the CE 6.0 platform.

"The Marvell PXA3xx applications processors were designed for feature rich smartphones, embedded systems and devices, GPS navigation systems, handhelds, and other consumer electronic devices. Sophia's BSP release for Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0, supporting the PXA300 applications processor demonstrates Sophia's commitment and leadership in providing a full featured development and debugging environment for our Marvell customers", said Gary Forni, Director of Platform Enabling, Marvell Cellular and Handheld Group
